+ Layoffs within the Chemical Manufacturing industry haven’t been too evident at the start of year (thankfully), but Dow and 3M have recently announced that they are deciding to cut around 4,500 jobs due to economic pressures. Link to the Article

+ INEOS is kicking off the start of 2023 by purchasing former BASF Construction Chemicals business for over $5.5 billion – acquiring sites in the US, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Link to the Article

+ Local Illinois ChemE’s may have heard about this incident a couple of weeks ago, but for those who haven’t; the Carus Chemical Plant in LaSalle, IL went up in flames on January 11th causing nearby residents to seek shelter and emergency respondents to fight the immense fire that emerged. No recent updates on the cause of the fire, but thankfully no one was severely hurt. Link to the Article
